Elders’ Helpers Employee Spotlight: Jockyn
Meet Jockyn
I’d like to introduce you to a member of our family. She is the first face you see when you walk in the doors and usually the first voice you hear when making a call into the office. Today, you’ll get to know a little something about the person in our office who does it all. Please meet Jockyn.
I sat down with Jockyn and asked her just a few questions so you could get to know her better.
Q: How long have you been at Elders’ Helpers?
A: I’ve been with Elders’ Helpers since 2007. I started as a caregiver, and held that position until I moved into an office role in 2012.
Q: What is your job in the office?
A: I do a lot of everything. I answer phones, do file work, assist coordinators with staffing issues, assist caregivers who have questions or issues. I also run our Daily Connections Program that connects volunteers with the elderly, in the form of daily calls. I basically do anything that the office needs.
Q: What made you come to Elders’ Helpers?
A: I started working here for a family member and decided to stay and expand my list of clients. I also needed something more when the daycare I was with slowed down.
Q: What keeps you at Elders’ Helpers?
A: I enjoy my job. I enjoy what I do. Another thing that keeps me here is the constant learning experience. I’m always learning something new. Before this, I had never worked in an office setting, and it’s been a total learning experience. I enjoy learning, and this job continues to allow me to learn and grow.
Q: What will ensure your continued presence at Elders’ Helpers?
A: As long as Elders’ Helpers is here, I will be here.
Q: What is your favorite activity outside of the office?
A: Spending time with my family is the thing I enjoy the most.
Q: What is your favorite food?
A: I don’t really have a favorite food, but if I had to choose, it would be catfish. I love it. Oh, and tacos, too. I could eat those two things all the time.
Q: What is your favorite color?
A: Pink and Purple
